The light was changing from green to yellow. The driver that turned left T-boned the truck and the hydrant was sheared off. I saw the geyser from a mile and a half away. The streets were flooded for 12 square blocks in a few minutes because the drains couldn't keep up with the flow.
We are in a drought and Southern Californians are encouraged to only water lawns twice weekly. I was on scene at least 30 minutes and there was no crew to stop the water and replace the hydrant in site.
The driver of the truck was shaken and wet. The other driver had a leg injury.
The hydrant is on the ground on the left.
