Getting pierced
The first timer who watches them get pierced first gets stunned by the number of piercing and then gets confused of why they aren’t bleeding. I cannot explain why they don’t bleed, but every single piercing on that day those not draw blood.
Thaipusam is a Hindu festival that commemorates both the birthday of Lord Murugan and the occasion where he received his vel (lance) from mother Parvathi to vanquish the evil demon Soorapadman. It is basically the festival that signals good winning over evil. In Malaysia it is a festival of 3 days for most but for the Kavadi bearers the journey starts 1 month earlier.
