This is where the gates to my first primary school used to stand. The buildings dated from Georgian times, (pre Victoria) and while there were things I disliked immensely, such as the outdoor toilets, those old buildings were full of wonder to a young mind, and steeped in tradition and history. About twenty years ago, rather than make repairs to the buildings, the school, along with several others in the area, was closed, and the pupils all ferried to a larger school nearby. The buildings were knocked down, and a housing estate was built in its place. I have no photos of the exterior of the buildings, only memories to remember what it looked like and frustration for the decisions that led to the closure of an academically brilliant school and an architectural beauty.

I love your color contrast and essay. I'm a Mitchell too, but from the other side of the pond.
