This photo of discarded school books (some still brand new in the plastic) was taken in the old Detroit Public Schools storage building. No wonder the Detroit school system is broke.

What a waste. It always breaks my heart to see books thrown away. Whenever I think I'm done with a book and won't need/read it anymore (which is rare) I give it away. Whatever THEY do with it is their business but I would hope they would hand it on too as I do.

"Rubble" . what happened here? They just abandoned the building and left all the books?

The crazy thing is that a few days after I shot these photos in this building the body of a homeless man was discovered in this building. Apparently it had been there for months. Creepy.

Excellent photo. Very effective in telling the story. When I saw this, I thought "Holy crap!"... so, that's my title suggestion. As a photo, the contents of the room are wonderfully lit. The fact that the windows are "burned" is not a problem... the central subject is rendered in great colors and tones. Ironically, as it is a photo of clutter & chaos, the photo is perfectly balanced & composed. Great shot.
