Lava rock beach at Laupahoehoe, HI. I am looking for feedback so please send any feedback. One question I have is it too dark too light or just right.
I just wanted to thank everyone this picture made jpgs front page. I am so jazzed.
In the story Today Ansel Adams would bracket for HDR and the story Hilo, Hawai'i.

I like it. feedback: all positive.
I think you chose well to keep the upper right corner deep black without much detail. You know they are rocks so there is no need to show them. It adds a certain mystery. The lower left is slightly gray... again a good idea to leave the rocks under the surf just slightly visible.... and it keeps the brightest pixels in the glistening rock reflections. I would love to see this in a large B&W print on glossy paper.
finally: I have a soft spot for these beaches from a hike along the Na Pali coast as a young man way too many decades ago -

I like the balance very much. I can see the tension, however, in deciding whether or not to bring more of the rocks out of the fog by increasing contrast. I'd guess there are probably many fine images here along the contrast gradient.
