COMPROMISO
This wreath/crown was given to me by a young pemon indian girl in Canaima Venezuela as I rushed to catch a ride on a bush plane back to " "civilization" ". She had made it for me during the six or so weeks I had camped in her parents back patio. Running, the pilot hurrying me along with vehement waves of his brown arms a little old woman in the village excitedly asked me where I had gotten the wreath. Pausing, I told her and she began to laugh saying that, "that is for marriage a compromiso".
