Turbo Turbo
This photo is hot! Share it!
If I wasn't drawing homes for a living I'd want to be a tour guide.
Actually, I'd be a master carpenter.
But if I couldn't do any of that, I'd be a tour guide.
This is the Palace Pier in Brighton, (tourist hotspot) where I'd take my tourists to have their fortune read, ride the Turbo and fish for rubber ducks.
Shot on an Olympus XA2 with Kodak tMax.
I am in love with this city.
So is everyone.
I removed this picture from the passport theme, despite having an awful lot of votes. I just felt it fitted better under gravity powered, and doing all the things your mother always told you not to (like going on rickety rollercoasters on the end of piers). Anyways, if you liked it over in Passport, please vote for it here in Gravity Powered!

Sorry but I don't think this fits the theme - not really "off the beaten track" IMHO.

Edward - thanks for the comment.
I do think "off the beaten track" is a little soft as a theme direction; since I (and 250,000 other Brightonians) live within half and hour of the pier then it is not off our beaten track.
However, in all my travels you'd be very surprised how few people who visit England get "off the (very well beaten) track" of just staying in London. Very very few people make the trip down to London-by-the-sea and I frequently spend time convincing people they should! Actually, come to think of it - there's a lot of people who live here who've never made it to the pier!
Essentially, nowhere is off the beaten track to everyone. -

Jim, I agree that "off the beaten track" is a little soft as a theme direction. However, that's how we've been directed so IMHO we should abide by it. I could be mistaken of course, but I got the impression that JPG did not want photos ot popular "tourist attractions/places" (or, in other words, "hotspots", one of which you say is Brighton).
I've been to Brighton numerous times and like it very much, and judging by the number of cars heading there so do many other people.
Anyway, no offence intended; good luck with your photo. -

Edward - you quite right, I sort of stumped my own case by referring to it as a "hotspot"! I still think it holds, since Brighton is not on most tourists radar, but I can see your point.
Thanks. -

maybe this would fit in the gravity theme better? other then that i really love roller coasters and this photo (especially the b&w). there is also something in the upper left corner that you might want to crop out.

Hi Tani,
Thanks for the comment. I agree it would possibly fit better in the gravity theme, I'm not sure. Well spotted on the thing in the upper left corner - its some dust from the scanner (I hadn't seen it). Keeping it real I suppose! -

This image is doing really well in the Passport theme. Thanks everyone for all the favs, yeahs and especially the comments. Since the "Gravity Powered" theme was launched, I can't help but think it'd be better in there, but I don't want to loose it all.
Oh screw it, I'll swap it over...... -
