On July 7, 2006, rescue crews were called to find a man who had jumped from a bridge over the river. The sunny day turned ugly, with rain pouring in torrents. These people did not stop. Rather, they continued their search against the odds. This, to me, is America. That we strive against the odds. Sometimes it's public. Sometimes, it's just getting up and showing up for our children, our family, our friends. Even when the going isn't easy. Even when we are tired--we show up.
