Elephant’s Call in scorching summer
Elephant’s Call in scorching summer:
A big herd of wild elephants from Rani Reserve Forest came down to Deepor Beel water reserve to get cool in scorching summer heat in the outskirts of Guwahati on Thursday morning, May 03, 2007. Deepor Beel is the only Ramsar site of north eastern India.
The villagers in the nearby hills and the water reserve are facing “Man –Elephant Conflict” all thorough summer as the wild elephants come to the water reserve to get cool, destroying the village huts and killing people too. Since 2003 six people have been killed by the wild elephant, including the last week’s killing, near Deepor Beel.
