Book publishers have $$$. They held a conference to pick the brains of experienced English teachers and in return reserved rooms for the weekend at the Windsor Court Hotel. It was quite spiffy, and I accidentally ran into David Letterman that weekend. We exchanged about 10 accidental words in the process (my brush with fame). This was the view from the 12th floor window. It is a view of a city trying to come back from disaster post Hurricane Katrina. The city has crime and a huge displaced population and poverty; yet, I cannot shake my southern roots and culture. I shall continue to photograph it obsessively and love it with all of its beauty, tradition, and warts.
I will miss JPG because it was an education in itself that allowed all of us to live vicariously through each other's images. I guess I'll mosey over to flickr next, but I hope to find all of you as my friends on myspace or facebook so that I can continue to enjoy what you have found to be important in your world.
Thanks for the insight!
