Dad, Grandpa and Family 1985
The Family Cemetary.
My Dad died on Dec. 7, 2006...Pearl Harbor Day. He was in France during WW11. My Grandfather passed away in 1987.
My Father had a thing for photographing head stones of relatives. He was also known to photograph them in their caskets. He called himself a "Polaroider".
He even video taped a memorial ceremony for one of my Aunts with the video camera on auto-pilot afixed to a tripod raised as high as it could go. The camera ran out of tape in the middle and an audio signal went off making sure everyone knew. I had to get up and change the tape.
I made this photograph on an annual visit to the family burial place.
From the look on his face, he didn't like it very much that I trained my lens on them at that time... in that place. Oh, well.
I used my Nikon F2 with 35mm f/2.8 Nikkor lens on Tri-X 400 film.
I use a sponge (water dodging) technique for sepia and brown toning.

This shot tells a detailed story, which you narrated very well with your essay. The technique is awesome. It brings out a very strong feeling of nostalgia. Your grandfather sounds like quite a guy.
