Poverty: It is a condition in which a person or community is deprived of, and or lacks the essentials for a minimum standard of well-being and life. These essentials may be material resources such as food, safe drinking water, and shelter, or they may be social resources such as access to information, education, health care, social status, political power, or the opportunity to develop meaningful connections with other people in society.
We went to Quiapo in Manila for our school project Kwentuhan at Paskuhan (in English it means 'Storytelling and Christmas'). There were around 20 of us and we had a program to help the youth of about 20+ children and they are participating to listen the story telling-play. The stories we had chosen was Filipino myths that the children connect to.
I saw these children siting on the floor-mat and I was thinking that if they could wait til we are ready for the next program. I feel sad for them because their parents couldn't provide to send them to a school. But I hope that someday they will have a chance for a better future...
