I love this photo! I was hopig some one would enter one just like this! The figure in the corner I wonder what it represents. I wonder the history of this old place, whose life it touched. the moss on the side...Excellent find!

It feels as if that tree intentionally--I mean with intellectual purpose--is grabbing hold of that ancient building.

yeah! thanks for the gps! Angkor Wat temple - cambodja
Ancient Angkor Wat Temple Early 12 century Angkor Wat marks the climax of Khmer architecture and is built as a small replica of the cosmos. In the cosmological concept of India the world was surrounded by mountain rages, beyond which were mythological oceans. In the center was Mt. Meru, surrounded by 4 smaller peaks. Angkor Wat is the biggest temple in Angkor and was originally dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. Centuries later it became a Theravada Buddhist sanctuary. It is surrounded by a 190m wide moat, measuring 1500 x 1300m which symbolizes the mythical oceans. Two causeways, at west and east, give access to the temple proper, surrounded ba a 1025 x 802m long laterite wall, symbolilzling a mountain range. -
