Driving back from Canberra I ran into a number of low-density locust swarms causing substantial carnage with the large-fronted Ford Transit van that I was driving. When I came to a road-side truck parking area I could not help but pull over and take some images. To take these I got down really low. lying on my belly, and crept very slowly closer.

For these images i used the AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm F2.8G. Supporting the camera on the ground I could get up to f29. When hand-held I had to open up, which resulted in the shallow field of focus (incl. this image)

Image taken at some truck parking area somewhere between Tarcutta and Holbook, NSW, Australia

Image modified with the TPOAZ plug in for CS 3 (please vote for my story)
