Jose Miguel

This is Jose Miguel doing his impression of George W. Bush as we talked about politics. He lives in Matanzas, Cuba and on his door has a sign that says "¡Abondad Toda Esperanza, de Nuevo Dante y Jose Miguel!" His family was able to keep their large corner house after the revolution for reasons that I will never understand (property rights in Cuba will never make sense to me) and all died due to poor health leaving Jose Miguel alone. To support himself he divided up the house, selling off pieces gradually ending up living in just a few rooms. The other rooms are all piled with books, almost more than I have seen in the University of Havana library. He is a painter and an artist and besides using paper and other things as canvas has also adorned his walls. He is missing his two front teeth. He drinks too much, suffers from diabetes, and straddles crazy and brilliant. We interrupted him painting; so that is paint on his nose.
