This is my old home, the fire station on Pilgrim Street in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. If you look along the skyline of the right hand block you can see my bedroom window just below the TV antennae. My father used to climb the tower by latching a hook ladder onto each window sill until he got to the top. He would then have to cable himself to the ladder and jump off backwards. The long stretch of yard used to be covered with glass and the engines would be fixed and cleaned. I used to play around them with my fire engine. It is all empty now.
