I am going back to places from my childhood that I felt to be sanctuaries. They were safe places to call my own. I am often naked in my pieces because, although I am in a place I call a sanctuary, I still feel very vulnerable. I am still that little boy, scared and looking for acceptance. My work is a reflection of my dysfunctional cultural upbringing. They are fragments of a story bringing up issues of childhood trauma. My work is about me being a gay boy looking for a place to call home.
