Under, Above.
This is up on the Inter Glacier on Mount Ranier. A split shot looking into an ice cave under the glacier and over it down into the valley and White River campground area
John Huston and some climbing partners can be seen centre of picture down the glacier further. They were up there crevasse training.......John does "unassisted" treks to the North and South Pole, and is a proffesional climber.
When they reached me, I was severely questioned about my choice of climbing boots (which by the way, are in the picture purely to give a perspective and scale of this place).
The full story on this little adventure is on my web site www.malstewart.com in the "Travel" album, and is probably worth a read....A truly amazing and dangerous place.
It's 4.30 am Wednesday morning here in Australia, and I think I had better stop JPGing and go to bed for an hour or so before going to work today....it's addictive this site, is'nt it !

This is quite amazing. And you did so well to include your own feet and the clibers, it really conveys a sense of the immensity of that space
