Three generations of womenfolk: Meiji-Jingu Shrine, Tokyo, Japan
Submitted to Growing Up
I was with one of my photography students at the time I shot this and I quickly snapped it upon seeing the whole family out of the corner of my eye.
I turned round rapidly to try and get the shot before the monent was gone...
I like the way the two older ladies are not as sharp as the girl. It was the girl's day; shichi-go-san: seven, five, three. A day for celebrating young children and celebrating the whole growing-up process.
I love shooting this 85mm f/1.4 lens. The shallow dof is just intoxicating.
