Toward the light

On a trip through the George Washington National Forest, this foggy scene captured my mind.

This is really dreamy. I like your composition, how you get to look down the side of the hill and see all the leaves. Nice job capturing that wet, shiny gravel too.

I somehow agree with jrjrjrjr. BUT, the picture is outstanding. I just feel sorry to the rest of the members who posted a more deserving reward (IF THE RULES WERE ACTUALLY FOLLOWED BY THE JUDGES).

Over processed or not, it's a fantastic image. Makes me wanna go out and try to capture a simular scene.

As part of a respectable company that leads a team of graphic artists, I find this photograph OVER PROCESSED. It' is indeed a beautiful picture (NO DOUBT ABOUT IT). If I was just given the opportunity to jude, I could have included this in the magazine ONLY, ONLY if the 'OVERT PROCESSING' is NOT A RULE. I therefore conclude that the jpgmag judges did a bad job in choosing this picture as well as some (over processed) pictures that were included in the magazine (dream theme).

Hello, and I want to thank you all, for both the positive and negative comments. It was indeed an honor to be published in JPG magazine.
I also want to thanks the overwhelming number of votes from the photographic community that made this possible.
Many thanks to the editorial staff at JPG magazine that created a very unique selection process that is strongly based on each member's vote.
It is a shame though, that I carry baggage with me when I came to JPG, from other parts of the internet. And, it is more of a shame that they chose to attack the magazine editors, who are totally undeserving of such negativity from someone who does not even offer pictures here.
I really do not feel that I have to defend my picture on following the rules. But I will say this, I stayed within the rules, that can be found here: http://www.jpgmag.com/about/photos.html
This photo was not even edited in Photoshop. It was adjusted for contrast and saturation. Something that JPG never says you can't do. How much a photo is tweaked is a subjective judgment, and I tried to stay within the bounds of being tasteful.
    Thanks again to all,
    Bob

This photo, to me, is perfect. I find it to be very story creating. I visualize something haunting, something romantic, something cold, something secret. It is one of the best photos I've seen in a long time.
