A female Golden Orb Weaver spider. Total diameter about the size of an adult's hand. This one built her web right next to a flowering palm tree in my yard that was covered with bees. She catches the bees, paralyses them, kills them and coats them in saliva to break them down so she can 'drink' them because she can't digest them internally. I stalked her for over an hour and took this shot leaning off my front balcony with camera at arm's length. Well worth it I think.

Thanx Carol. She looks it, but she's very timid, if I got too close to her she'd run away.

Thanks Lindsey. Actually, believe it or not, Orb spiders are very shy spiders, if I got too close to her she would run away to the furthest part of her web.

OMG, great shot, love it. I have a Orb Weaver spider on JPG, but it has a crab like appearance. It is one of the first images I uploaded.

This would have been very fitting in the "breakfast" theme too! Hahaha. Nice capture (both you and the spider)!! ♥♥
