Self-portrait. Light was from two desk lamps on either side providing a bit of rim light (they ended up being largely neglected because they weren't bright enough to let me get the background very dark) and then a Canon 430EX shot through and umbrella high and camera right.
I didn't have a tripod so I put my camera on a shoebox on the kitchen counter to be the same height as me sitting in a chair, prefocused on the bulb with remote live-view on a laptop, and then jumped in the chair after I started the self-timer.
I wish I could have used fishing line but I didn't have any, so I ended up using copper wire - which showed up as a nice bright line in the image - to connect the bulb to the ceiling via scotch tape. I bent the wire to get the bulb to be the right height and the taped part to be behind, so really the only difference between the original and this image is that there's no white line going from the bulb out of the frame. I still think this counts as not a manip though, since the bulb and me are the same image. Whatever.. I think it's kind of cool. ;)

Haha! Your self portrait has a clear sense of humor- if you're generally a funny person, you've captured yourself in a great way!!
