At Play in the Fields of the Lord
I don't know what it is with me and wheat fields.
This shot is taken on the side of a highway somewhere between Cape Agullas and the Cape of Good Hope in the Republic of South Africa. We had just driven through a thunderstorm and the sky began to clear, but rain continued to fall in the mountains in the background. Looking west, I chose to include the flare to create a softer, more ethereal effect, somewhat mitigating the drama of the scene in order to reflect my joy at witnessing the spectacle, as well as the joy I was feeling from the days excursion watching the whales play off the nearby coast.
Scan of 35mm slide.
Don't remember what kind, but it was most likely Kodak.
