Mauna Kea is the 15th highest summit in the world and highest in the United States. The native Hawaiians consider it a sacred place and it is here that astronomers build some of the best telescopes in the world. And everyday people make the trek up to the summit at 13,796 ft to watch the final sun set in the United States as the sun sets over the international date line.
