The Forest Hills Lantern Festival is a celebration of remembrance inspired by Buddhist rituals. It takes place in Jamaica Plain, MA every summer. Each lantern is decorated with a note to a loved one who has died. At sunset the lanterns are lit and set afloat in Lake Hibiscus. The lanterns symbolize the journey that the soul takes when life ends.
