Southwest Washington's Palouse country, or more properly in French, "le pelouse" (which sounds beautiful but means "land with short and thick grass"), as seen during sunrise from the top of Steptoe Butte. This was taken with my plucky little Zero Image 2000 during a three day road trip in October. The day dawned misty, foggy, ethereal, and I awoke quickly that morning - I am roused from the grogginess of sleep in a second if the scene promises to be beautiful.
And the goldeness! Pinhole reproduced that quality well. The banks of fog started to fade one by one as I wandered around the top of the butte, able to see for miles and miles in all directions. Such a beautiful spot of country.
