A Difference in One
Most nerds* want to blend in but cannot. The egotistic want to stick out but also cannot. The wishes of both are never fully fulfilled because the mediocre are constantly copying the eccentric. As an observant egotistic I have decided to copy the nerds.
*Although it is a term that merely originates from high school culture it is applicable in other settings too.
