I Heart Sudoku

On my way home from one night, I spotted a diminutive middle-aged woman wearing a bright red hat and a pair of equally bright red shoes. The color choice of her accessory for the day was the right touch had she been planned to stand out in the crowd. Her small red hatted head simply floated in the sea of city slicker uniform of black coats and dark suits.

But it wasn't just her hat or shoes that kept my attention. She was also clutching what looked like an old-school accounting ledger with a handful of loose paper stuck in the middle. When she took out a red pen (surprised?) out of her pocket to write on a loose sheet of paper, I aimed my camera towards her and stole a shot. The bustle of city noise absorbed the zippy sound of my camera. My DSLR might as well have been a quiet rangefinder.

When the train arrived, Ms. Tiny Red Hat hopped in the crowded car. I hopped in as well and stood right next to her. Up close, I noticed one detail I missed when she was standing 20 feet away from me. Her "ledger" was not an accounting ledger at all. It was a softbound book about the size of a magazine. On the cover of the book, it read, "Sudoku."
