Let us hope our world will be safer for future generations, through dialogue and rational foreign policy
Minuteman II missile silo, one of 18 former intercontinental ballistic missiles spread throughout South Dakota, each carried a 1.5-megaton warhead 5,000 times more powerful than the atomic bomb dropped on Japan in WW II.
Thankfully, all have been destroyed in S.D. with the passage of the arms reduction treaty during the presidency of George H.W. Bush.
This missile minus the warhead and the launch center are now historical museums run by the Interior Dept. The only one allowed by the treaty between the United States and Russia in the 1990's.
