We had unauthorized patches made. This is one of only two that I know of that has survived the years.
It was crude and made on a local shop in the village of Takhli, Thailand in 1969.
We thought it was a hoot to have a completely unique patch. We were the only Photo Detachment authorized to wear the "Go To Hell " (Aussie style) hats with the right side brim folded up tight against the hat itself.
The patch was an extension of that individualism we earned by the work we did.
It was harmless but technically illegal. I was 19; I couldn't even vote but I could go to the beer garden and get s--t faced after flying. It made sense to me...

HAHAHA! Little did we know what history we had in the making. I only saw one 600th Photo Sqdn logo and I managed to get a photograph of it. This is a great photograph.

That's fantastic...I'm a shooter with the 106th Rescue Wing (ANG,) and it's always a hoot seeing the old unit patch. The New ABU's don't even have room for the wing patches.
