I've only known two of these beautiful creatures in my life (and I'm pretty damned old), but they are not only magnificent animals and loyal companions, they are gentle giants. I adore these dogs! Thanks for the reminder! I would love to know more behind the photo. Where it was taken, who the gentlemen in the photo is and who is his furry friend? HOLLLLLLLLAAAAAA My COUSIN USE TO RAISE THESE DOGS IN MISSOURI SHE HAD A WHITE ONE NOT AS BIG AS THIS ONE YES THERE ARE VERY PLAY FULL AND GENTLE LOVING DOGS. GREAT PHOTO.

good grief that dog is huge! I've seen a brown one once just casually strolling down a sidewalk in Paris and thought it was a bear. It certainly walked like a bear.
