The Beginning of an inscription on the face of the Auckland War Memorial Museum.

Below the dentals are relief scenes from World War One.

Along with general museum collections, this museum now holds memoriums to They who fought and They who were lost in all wars New Zealand has sent troops to.

My Great Grandfather was one of two in our family who were of fighting age in WWI. He had bad eyes and was excused. He stayed, his cousin went. Cousin Gordon's name is inscribed in a list of the lost on a wall in the hall of memories here.
Great Grandfather also was excused from WWII for the same reason. He sent his son who survived both Egypt and Italy before returning home. He still lives, just as much my hero.
