Actually, it made me cringe.
How do we know the "dog is loving it"?
That's anthropomorphism.
As a dog lover myself It doesn't sit comfortably with me.
Sorry! -
Karen Zimmerman said (23 Feb 2008):
I'm all for gravity-defying dogs who choose to launch themselves under their own power, but this little guy has no choice. I feel sorry for that dog. One miss, and he'll have broken bones from that height.

That dog is most definitely NOT loving it. His body language clearly indicates fear and stress. If he were loving it, his tail wouldn't be tucked and his mouth would be relaxed and open. It IS an interesting pic, but the dog isn't happy.

I'll admit that I, for one, wouldn't feel comfortable enough with my hand-eye coordination to toss a dog like that. On topic, though, this is an excellent photo, capturing a moment in a very interesting way. Anthropomorphism or not, the dog seems to be looking at the camera and thinking "Aw, what the Hell!..."

For all the people that gave props to this photo, shame on you. Or for the people that started to condemn it, but then backed out and said it was an interesting photo, shame on you too. I usually don't have this reaction to a photo, but in this case I find this photo appalling. We could do a LOT to get an interesting photo, but it doesn't mean that we should.
