Freedom
I took this image a long time ago with my old film Canon 300V using Kodak 400 BW Pro-something.
This was a man of the street, but what I liked so much about him is his look, unlike most beggars which have hard, bitter faces, he looks kind and at peace.
I also loved the crude scan the minute I made it. Since I couldn't afford a film scanner back then I used my desk lamp, but a piece of paper on top (which is why the grain looks odd), put the film on top of that, and then used my point and shoot to capture the photo.
In the Why hire a photographer? photo essay.

This is... great. I shoot film myself, and can only hope to capture something like this. It's all so cohesive, the grain and the exposed film strip. Even the way the left side is rather washed out draws the attention to the man's face, which is, as you said, the most captivating part of the shot. This has to be one of the coolest looking shots I've seen on this site so far... absolutely brilliant.
