We were so lucky that this year the Olympic torch ran right past our house. This is a shot from our balcony as it passed. As the torch passed a tragedy ensued in Sichuan. At nearly exacltly the same time this photo was taken the huge earthquake rocked. It was a day full of mixed emotions.

Not an insignificant picture. Two momentous, world riviting events unfold simultaneously outside the photographers balcony. The text, photo record, context, crowd responses make this a kind of photojournalism great. An the torch is front and center. Very nice job. Again, it made me feel like I was there and was even part of that history.
