My Grandfather was my hero, He was a military man and a POW in WWII.
He owned his own buisness, drilling water well's in southern utah and some odd end jobs for the local farmers. He was a giving, caring, selfless man. He lived in a little tailer on a small bit of land with a huge shop and that is what made him happy. He didn't need expensive things. Just his family.
My brother and I lived with him during the summer as children. He would put us to work which was usually very hard and it was always hot. But it was fulfilling work.
He also helped me rebuild a car when I turned sixteen.
My parents thought that spending the summers with him would make us more greatfull for the things their life-style provided us. Like, grocery shopping with my parents we usually got anything we wanted but with him we rarely got much more than spam and eggs for dinner and cheap lunch meat for lunch and puffed rice for breakfast.
My grandfathers passing was one of the most dificult things I have ever experienced. But his attitude towards life was his greatest assett. He was always an optomist. He is still my hero and I hope one day to live my life to his expectation of his own.
