One week ago ...
... I uploaded a fluke shot of this most unusual looking creature sprouting wings and taking off. It is an Elephant Weevil - Orthorhinus cylindrirostris. They are quite partial to the leaves of Eucalypts and Acacias, so I guess this one may have been somewhat off course landing on the edge of a pot of Freesias.

Thanks to all of you for visiting and commenting. This was only the second I have ever seen of this species. I was unaware of the presence of the spider until I had the shot on the computer and was glad to see it was a little Jumping spider and not a Redback.

Very similar Trish - I knew there was rhinus or a rynchus in there somewhere. Thanks for the tip. Now I research! How big was yours? Mine was tiny.

Thanks for your comments :) L P and May, greatly appreciated. The body length was about 15mm or 0.6inch and the "nose" another 5mm or 0.2inch.
