Australian Designer and Artist Paul Vanzella is one of three co-founders of RedBubble.com, an online photo site that counts increasing numbers of JPGers amongst its ranks. Red Bubble is an open and inclusive website where artists can share their creative genius: photos, drawings, paintings, prose, poetry, with the world. The site allows for commentary of work, and also give users their own website and address. It also has the unique feature of allowing each item posted to be sold, and THEY do all the work. Paul says the idea came about when he and friends discussed how many talented people have great work sitting around on their desks and computers, just waiting for a public viewing. Red Bubble is the answer to all that! Paul has an enormous part of the site’s success, as he designed the look and feel of the site and the Red Bubble branding. Paul and his partners started Red Bubble in February, 2007.
Paul Vanzella is THE most amazing man! He is also a father to Siena and husband to Maris O'Sullivan, and counts amongst his friends hundreds of people whose work he personally views on a daily basis on the site. Since I haven't got to photograph him yet since he is in Australia, here is his photo, and me, and his recently published, and fantastic, book! I make a silly face because Paul features some very sexy images in his book, and provides thought provoking commentary. His images are photographs that he has edited such that they possess a gorgeous, painterly quality.
