Faith is one of those feelings that I have never felt and don't understand. I hope this man had faith in something... (he is clutching a Rosary) even though I reject faith for myself I am happy for the potential solace it may provide to others.
On the way up the steps to the church in Baguio City, Philippines. No one was going up or down this way but I tipped all the beggars on the way up. The light was so nice because the stairs are covered with plastic sheeting that has some dust on it.

Most people are so consumed by their own hectic lives that they would not have looked twice much less even noticed this man and his plight; I am glad that there are people like you out there who don't turn away and I am hoping that this picture will get published so that it can inspire some form of discussion - about faith, hope, helping, anything . . . that will keep us connected to each other.

I think this is an interesting take on faith. The obvious angle would be faith in humanity, and I also think it nods toward faith in change: this guy's life cannot be all that great, and spending the effort to extend his arm demonstrates his faith that something will be put into the hand at the end of it and improve his situation.
Of course, there's also always desperation. -
