Animal rights still has a long way to go in Korea. Last April I encountered a girl buying a chick - a popular springtime "toy" for Korean kids. The store-owner (who had a whole case of chicks for sale... and at a school-supplies store, no less!) gave her a plastic bag in which to take it home. Poor thing.
