Elvert Barnes
Born in October 1953, a 50 something gay black man I began photographing seriously in 1992. First focusing on street and then protest photography, with the events of 11 September 2001 and in documenting the anti-war and peace movement I contributed articles to alternative news sources including the Indymedia organizatiom and the Washington Spark Newsletter.
While capturing moments in time that can not ever be again my work attempts to document history while shedding light on my personal story.
