Issue 15: Noir
Our Noir issue celebrates the moody and dark photography that evolved from the black-and-white crime films of the '40s and '50s. Cinematic inspiration continues with a behind-the-scenes account of a Gregory Crewdson shoot and Ryan Schude's Tableau photography, capturing whole narratives in a single frame.
This issue also contains the themes Split-Second, sponsored by Sony Alpha DSLR-A700 and Surroundings, sponsored by Samsung G800. In the Surroundings theme, JPG photographers share those places that mean the most. We've also included five photo essays spotlighting neighborhoods in Mexico, India, Iceland, the Czech Republic, and England.
The Split-Second theme captures the action at just the right moment, with explosions, gunshots, cockfights and more perfectly-timed shots. Plus, shooting interior architecture, unique results with expired film, a collaborative photo project by mail, and so much more!
